Arocutín/Jarácuaro Bridge

Mile 6.1 from DP - Go toward Lake Pátzcuaro; drive toward Muelle for 0.3 miles and turn left toward Erongarícuaro. At mile 6.1 reach Jarácuaro/Arocutín Y; go right toward lake and drive to bridge.

Arocutín Ejido Land

Mile 7.6 from DP - Go toward Lake Pátzcuaro; drive toward Muelle for 0.3 miles and turn left toward Erongarícuaro. The Arocutín Ejido Land is on the left, uphill away from lake. You will take the dirt road between Campestre Alemán and some grey sand cliffs.

Balneario Arroyo Frío

Mile 05.9 south from TT - Road comes to a Y. Go left towards Yuricato.

Mile 15.9 south from TT - South of Tacámbaro, you will drive through the pueblo of Chupio to reach this site. After Chupio, look for a sign on the right to turn into Arroyo Frio.

Parque Ecológico Recreativo Cerro Hueco

Mile 05.9 south from TT - Road comes to a Y. Go left towards Yuricato.

Mile 08.3 south from TT - Turn left on road to Cerro Hueco. Landmarks at corner are signs that read Taller Perez Velez and CFE (Comisión Federal Eléctrica). Follow road up to Parque Ecológico Recreativo Cerro Hueco. Return to main road to continue.

Don Prisci’s in Pátzcuaro = mile 0

Pátzcuaro: The “Don Prisci’s” mile 0.0 starting point is at the Lázaro Cárdenas statue roundabout on Av. Lázaro Cárdenas. Mileage to some birding sites will be counted from here.

El Chirimoyo/Mal País

Mile 7.1 from DP – Go toward Lake Pátzcuaro; drive toward Muelle for 0.3 miles and turn left toward Erongarícuaro. El Chirimoyo/Mal País are on the left, away from lake.

La Jacaranda

Private. Avenida Lázaro Cárdenas #333, Pátzcuaro. Just south (uphill) of the Tanganxuan roundabout.

Ojo de Agua, Tzintzuntzan

From Pátzcuaro drive through Tsurumútaro to Tzintzuntzan. Pass the main plaza and you will come to a fork. Bear to the right in the direction of Quiroga. Watch the median and when it ends, immediately turn left into a small park at lake edge.

Rio Corucha

Mile 05.8 south from TT - Road comes to a Y. Go left towards Yuricato.

Mile 11.8 from south TT. Located south of Tacámbaro. Turn right

onto dirt agricultural road which goes north along Rio Corucha. Easy to miss. On the main road toward Chupio, if you see a cement wall on the right for an irrigation pond, you have missed the turn. The turn for the Rio Corucha site is well before the pueblo of Chupio.

Salto Santa Paula

Mile 05.9 south from TT - Road comes to a Y. Go left towards Yuricato.

Mile 06.4 south from TT - A road on left goes uphill to top of Salto Santa Paula.

Mile 06.5 south from TT - On left, walk along river to bottom of Salto Santa Paula. Path is through a shanty enclave; not a good route for access.

Mile 05.9 south from TT – Here road comes to a Y. Go left towards Yuricato and Puruaran.

Mile 10.8 south from TT – As a Landmark, there is a white building on right - Asociación Ganadería.

From Pátzcuaro, take the road to Tacámbaro. When you reach a T, turn south toward Tacámbaro. This T intersection is designated as mile 0 for directions to birding sites.
